Polk Salad or Pokeweed can have a rootball the size of a bowling ball. The best way to kill it is with Glyphosate (commonly known as Round-Up). Apply when plants are at least 1 foot tall and never let the seeds mature and fall. Also be sure and apply to foliage and let it be absorbed into the plant for at least 24 hours before you cut it down. It may take a couple of applications to get enough solution into the roots for a complete kill. Ready to use products are usually weak and other products will kill top growth fast and not get to the roots. So come to the store and we can show you some options and probably kill the plants with one application.
P.S. Brush B Gon is used to control Woody plants or plants with bark, usually trees and shrubs.
